Color Me Fascinated: A Photo Social Network for the Here and Now

Late last week a new startup named Color created quit a buzz with its entry in the mobile photo apps category. Backed by Sequoia Ventures (the same guys who funded YouTube among many others), they unveiled aphoto app for iOS and Android devices with an interesting twist. Instead of letting you pick who you shared your photos with, it automatically created a set of friends based on physical proximity to you.

Show up at a industry party and start taking pictures. If you're doing that through Color those photos are instantly shared with everyone else at that event with the Color app open.

Color is based on the notion of an implied social circle, in this case a set of strangers who are at the same event (location).

All in all this startup is shaking up things. Look to see more apps with implied social networks coming out soon.
